We are a team and we remain as one throughout the course of the meet. ALL MEETS ARE MANDATORY AND ALL SWIMMERS REMAIN ON DECK UNTIL THE CONCLUSION OF THE FINAL CHEER.

(No transportation is provided to away meets, but the parents club can help arrange car pools, etc.). The Yankee League abides by the rules of the U.S. If your child qualifies, he or she will also compete in Championship meets in late February and early March. Dual meets start in November and end in early February. The team is a USA Swimming certified team and is applying to be a member of the Yankee Swim League and plans to compete in meets against other teams from across the state. Expertise is not necessary, but the child must be independent enough not to need a coach in the pool with him/her. The coaches evaluate the swimming skill at the outset of the season to assure that the child is ready to join the team. Any boy or girl up to the age of 18 may join. The West Haven Wizards Swim Club is an activity organized and run by the Department of Parks & Recreation. It does not include any additional meet fees including trials fees.

MEET FEES: Registration fees include a $20.00 flex USA Swimming membership for each swimmer. We sincerely apologize if your child’s practice time presents difficulties for you, however, please be advised that these times are non-negotiable. Swimmers may be moved up at coaches’ discretion throughout the year. Each swimmer is evaluated by the coaching staff and put in the time slot in which we feel each swimmer can be the most successful. on M,W,F* Īll swimmers will be assigned a regular practice time to attend on the first day.Ī NOTE ON PRACTICE TIMES : Swimmers are assigned practice times based on age and ability. Our current coaching staff has been leading the charge since 2005 and are proud Wizard Alums who know that being part of the Wizards is being part of a family. In addition, the Wizards feature several other activites designed to raise team spirit, build friendships and give back to the community, from our Annual Awards Banquet to our participation in West Haven's Plunge For the Cure. During both seasons swimmers will learn all four strokes as well as turns, starts, and relay techniques. Our fall season from September to March and involves a number of meets (including Yankee League Championships) throughout the season and is devoted to training at a competitive level, while our spring season from May to late June is geared towards refining all swimmers' skills and technique. Competing throughout the state of Connecticut as members of the Yankee Swim League, the Wizards are dedicated to hard work, the achievement of personal goals set by each swimmer, and having fun. The West Haven Wizards Park Rec Swim Team has a proud tradtion of teamwork, good sportsmanship, community service, and success for over 45 years.
